A night at the museum

If Impressionism is an attempt to take reality and extract the impression out of it. what does a drawing whose subject is an impressionist masterpieces mean? a double extract? a way to pass the time?
Ah, you know what? forget it...

This time - some drawings from Musée d'Orsay (among others)
And if you missed my recommendation - take a look at this issue of Boo! Baa! Buu! with echos of the Leviathan

Monet - Orangerie

indeed Don Quixote, Sancho Panza and the Dead Mule
Apparently, Honoré drew tons of them, as you can see (and even buy a poster) here.

I sat down to rest, right below a statue of Icarus, and took my time to draw him in relatively lots of detail, but I still prefer the fast one that came after...

An attempt to catch the mist Monet lays down with pencils.

If you look closely, you will see some visitors reflecting in the protecting glass. (at least I did...)

Bonnard is someone I can't seem to get enough of...

The guard was dosing off, so I started drawing and waiting for him to fall asleep. Suddenly he woke up, looked around, and mumbled something about him falling asleep and that he has to go take a walk.
The empty chair remained.

  1. Here are my impressions : for one, much better seen on a wide screen than on the netbook. The, number 3 for the textures and the colours. I'd like a t-shirt with #4: is that Don Quijote and Sancho Panca ? Would like to know more about number 5 (the ...eagle?) : looks familiar and transformed at the same time.

  2. Ok, the laughing one, one at a time...
    1. I am working on a script to reduce images if they too big for display.
    2. #3 was at the Orangerie, bought some pens to draw it (about two years ago)
    3. #4 - You can find a photo here, I think Honoré is not doing T-shirts, but you can find the original at the Orsey, alternatively I can gladly send you a better quality scan.
As for the rest - I'll add some comments tout de suite.

  3. Beautiful. Monet (the one with colors) is my favorite. Oh yes, Don Quixote is really nice too, and funny :)
I like the new header icon too. You might want to consider switching to a wider layout for all the rest as well, if this is possible with the Blogger.

  4. Thx mate,
Perhaps I'll look at it, but for now I kinda like the fact some are too big and break the frame, and I wrote a javascript to make them inside the window, so no worries there.
